Kathleen P. Godwin

Rene Godwin received her Master of Aeronautical Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a minor in Aviation/Aerospace Safety Systems. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Administration.  Godwin managed the Space Shuttle Launch Operations Quality and Safety organization for Kennedy Space Centers Launch Pad 39 A & B. She has over 30 year’s aerospace experience working with critical flight hardware. As a manager she was responsible for the performance of occupational safety and health professionals that monitored the Space Shuttle processing areas, ground support equipment, launch, landing and recoveries of the space transportation system. As a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Safety professional Godwin provided oversight of safety assurance regulations and requirements applicable to high explosives, solid rocket propellants, pyrotechnics, cryogenics and toxic materials throughout the Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39 area. Godwin’s experience also includes supporting the Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. While supporting the missile range on Kwajalein she audited and modified performance work statement requirements to ensure compliance to the Kwajalein Range Services contract at the Ronald Reagan Test Site. The evaluations she conducted were for major operational processing areas of expandable launch vehicles and award fee mission critical which included instrumental rockets, telemetry and radars. She developed assessment plans and studies for environmental health hazards, implemented corrective action plans and established control measures to improve performance. Godwin has received several prestige awards throughout her career.
